Inverness Counsel was founded nearly 50 years ago by Robert B. Deans, Jr.  Educated at Yale and trained at some of the preeminent financial institutions of the day, he understood that managing wealth is not only a serious professional undertaking, but one that is necessarily built on trusted relationships. 

 

At Inverness, we have built a firmwide culture that places the client at the center of everything we do.  We empower our clients to focus on their core objectives.  The bonds of teamwork, both within the firm and with our clients, are built on years of experience.  The average tenure of our employees is over a decade, and the members of our Investment Committee have more than 20 years of experience on average.  While we continue to grow, it is a testament to our core strengths that we are working today with the fourth generation of many of our original clients.

 

Over time, we have grown with our clients, evolving and expanding our services and skill sets to meet our clients' changing needs.  In 2010, Inverness was converted from a C Corp into a Limited Liability Company.  Following the conversion, a significant portion of ownership transitioned to the next generation of management.  This change positions the firm to continue to meet the needs of our clients for years to come.
